An aristocratic filly generously donated by Ron McRorie and David and Bonnie Silva to benefit Rein in Cancer will be auctioned off during the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA)/ Markel Insurance Futurity Prospect Sale. The Rein In Cancer Benefit Auction will take place Saturday, December 1 at 9:30 a.m. in the sale arena at the Oklahoma State Fair Park.
Red Roses In Tinseltown is a yearling by Hollywoodstinseltown and out of Ir Rosys Freckle (by Colonel San Peppy). Hollywoodstinseltown, by NRHA Six Million Dollar Sire and NRHA Hall of Fame Inductee Hollywood Dun It, is a proven reining horse with NRHA Lifetime Earnings of over $185,000.
According to Rein in Cancer President, Cheryl Cody, Ron McCrorie contacted her early in 2012 with an idea for a donation. “We are so appreciative of Ron’s creativity and his and the Silva’s (owners of Hollywoodstinseltown) generosity in this donation.” She continued, “There is such a need among cancer patients for financial assistance. In the past two months, Rein in Cancer has made direct payments to over 50 individuals in the equine industry who are currently cancer patients. It’s the generosity of the folks in the horse world – like Ron and the Silvas – that allows us to help these people.”
Rein In Cancer raised funding to create and run the Shirley Bowman Nutrition Center at OU’s Stephenson Cancer Institute in Oklahoma City and currently furnishes direct financial support to cancer patients who are part of the horse industry. With nearly $800,000 raised, founders Shorty Koger, Cheryl (Magoteaux) Cody, and Tracie Anderson credit the generosity of the horse world, through bequests, memorials, promotions, and gifts.
