Rein In Cancer reaches the $500,000 milestone for the Shirley Bowman Nutrition Clinic!

June 21, 2011 – Rein in Cancer surpassed the half-a-million-dollar mark after the Quarter Horse Congress. The organization received a total of $80,900 from their live auction held at the event. They also received a check from the Ohio Quarter Horse Association for $106,150 at the conclusion of the Equine Chronicles.

”I’m just overwhelmed by the response we received,” Shorty Koger, owner of Shorty’s Caboy Hattery, said. “If it wasn’t for the horse people and all the support they’ve given us, we wouldn’t be where we are. Words just can’t express how we feel.”

It was recently announced by the Peggy and Charles Stevenson Oklahoma Cancer Center that the suite of offices for Patient and Family Services on the third floor will be named the Shirley Bowman Nutrition Center in honor of Rein in Cancer founder, Shorty Koger’s sister.

The nutrition center ensures that every cancer patient has the opportunity to meet with a registered dietician while they are undergoing treatments. Donations to the organization go directly to this cause.

“None of the money goes to research or administration – just for the patient’s nutritional needs,” Kroger said.
